AIDA! What happend in the first act

Saturday 3th July. Aida is here!
Big room in the building of the Menfis king to. To the sides, monumental statues and bushes in flower; on the background there are buildings, temples and pyramids. Ramfis, head of the priests, shares with Radamès, brave captain of the army faraonico, the fears of a new invasion of the Ethiopians. Already Iside has named the commander of the real troops, and soon the king will reveal the name of it. Radamès dreams to be the chosen person, to return from the enterprise surrounded of laurels and to give back throne and country to the woman that he loves: Aida, daughter of the Ethiopias King, fall in Egyptian hands (“If that guerriers I was!. Celestial Aida”). But also Amneris, the daughter of the king of Egypt, is in love with Radamès. Amneris, suspects in the slave a humiliating rival and she tries to discover, through skilled surveys, the truth: with Aida she turns deceitful words of affection (“you Come, or dear”), to Radamès in love but at the same time inquiring looks. A messenger brings meanwhile the news that hordes Ethiopians, driven by their monarch Amonasro, have crossed the boundarys and they march on Tebe. There is the war. In the presence of captains, of ministers and of priests, the king announces the name of the designate hero: Radamès. The presents exulted but not Aida that, fought among the love for her father and the insane passion for the most dangerous of the enemies, she asks to help the numis (” Returns vincitor. Numi, pity of my suffering”), observed to distance by the aware Amneris. Second scene. Inside of the temple of Volcano. Among mystical dances and invocations to the dèis (“Mighty Fthà”), in an escape of columns that loses him in the darkness, Radamès, the veiled head of silver, receives from Ramfis the sword that consecrates him the head of Egyptian army…

Anteprima Opera: Guestbook
…. If you are an opera enthusiast but, like me, a bit of a duffer at plots, then there’s a useful pre-show lecture called Anteprima Opera, a talk by an opera expert and conductor, held in the gorgeous Palazzo Verità Poeta, a stone’s thorw from the Arena.
It’s a great way to start the evening. The talk (in italian with English and German translation through headphones) is geared to the opera being performed in the Arena that night.
Sitting in the wonderful trompe l’oeil hall, 40 or so of us watched Maestro Fabio fapanni talking us through Aida while floor-shaking accompainiment fron the bass-baritone Victor Garcia Sierra… If this useful pre-amble doesn’t get the juices flowing, then there’s always the buffet afterwards. It’s a feast of local treats – including some superb cheeses and nearby Soave or Valpolicella wines.

Carmen a free women
Carmen appairs in Arena on the 10th of July with Her irresistible charm.
Carmen has always been painted as a frivolous character, a woman of easy customs that in the Paris of end Eight hundred, would not have had to tread the stage of the Opéra-Comique.
Her irresistible charm, her ardent sensuality of “habanera” gipsy, are always been the cause of a missed moral dignity. Carmen loves when she decides to love, and it stops loving when the love stops. Carmen makes to fall in love mens with that, that half century later the poet Federico García Lorca will define as “duende.”
Is a power and not an act, is a fight and not a think..the duende rise up internally from the plant of foods..it is not a matter of faculty, but rather an authentic alive style; or of blood; that is, of ancient culture, of creation in action.” Carmen doesn’t even stop in front of the death, rather, she dare it in order not to lose her Liberty. When Carmen throws on the engagement ring to Josè, she is not a capricious young girl that rebels to her man.
She is a woman that affirms her inflexible wish to be herself, also at the cost to pay with the life the price of her Liberty.
This weekend, in the rooms of “Palazzo Verità Poeta”, will take place the story of the Carmen in anarrative key, brought in scene by the Maestro Matteo Salvemini, with the voices of Victor Garcìa Sierra and Liliana Ruggero.
The wine that will accompany the representation will be the Lugana d.o.c. of the wine cellar “The pearl of Garda”.
Talk to you soon!
